A New Training System

Tonight our crew put aside their drysuits and did some paperwork, reviewing our training system to ensure that we are all trained to the highest standard. Training is obviously an essential part of our commitment, with weekly training sessions taking place throughout the year. The new system has 16 boat or station related training modules and 17 medical training modules. These modules are accompanied by documents called Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedures which contain all the background knowledge that crew need to know. Crew have Personal Training Plans which record the work they have done and identify where more intensive training is required. New crew are taken through an induction programme and are then expected to work their way through the various training modules.

Work done, a BBQ in the grounds of our village hall was a lovely social gathering after the hard work had been done.
